My Really Crappy Day

So, this morning we all got up at 2:45am to take Chris to the base. He left advance party (ADVON) to Iraq. He wanted to get there early so he could be at the front of the line so he would have more time to spend with us before formation. We got to the base just before 4am. The gates at the armory were opened at about 4:15 and it officially opened at 4:30. Chris goes in as soon as they open the gates. At 4:29 I start seeing guys coming out with their rifles. 4:50 rolls around, no Chris. One of my KV wives parks next to me, her husband goes in, comes out in about 15 minutes with his rifle. No Chris. At 5:05 I finally go over to the battalion area where the tent was set up so I could get the kids out of the car. Chris walks up about 10 minutes later. He said there were about 10 guys ahead of him, but the officers and staff NCO's kept going to the front of the line. We made it through the goodbyes without any tears this time, and all was well. We got home at around 7am and all went back to bed.

I got Katherine up at 11:15 and we went out to run errands. I got my phone number onto Chris' phone. I mailed some stuff back to my niece and nephew that they left from their visit over spring break. We went to McDonalds for lunch at Walmart, then did some shopping. I, of course, forgot the ONE THING I went to Walmart to get....oil for the Saturn. We went home then spent the afternoon at Mrs. Walker's house across the street.

You might ask what was so crappy about this day??? (Besides saying goodbye to my husband for 7 months...) On my way from my house to Hardee's to get dinner (I decided I wasn't cooking today) I left my wallet on the trunk of my car....Again.... I, of course, realised this as soon as I pulled up to the window to get my dinner. I immediately backtracked and even got out of my car at the points when I made a turn. No wallet. I took the kids back to Mrs. Walker's house and her son, Mike, walked with me from our house all the way to Hardee's (probably about 3 miles). Him on one side of the road, me on the other. Then, after we didn't find my wallet, he paid for a cab to take us back home. Then I had to tell my husband, who called me from Maine on a layover, that I lost my wallet (again) and I was probably going to have to cancel our credit cards. Again. So, I froze my 2 credit cards, cancelled my 2 debit cards, have lost not only my drivers licence, but also my military ID. And my checkbook. CRAPPY DAY! At least there wasn't any cash in there. And maybe someone will call me tomorrow and tell me they found my wallet and I can have my 2 credit cards turned back on. And I won't have to deal with having almost a whole book of checks out there. And I won't have to get a new military ID. My mother in law is mailing me my new drivers licence, which had come in the mail yesterday (my old one expires on my birthday). She's going to overnight it to me so I should have that by Friday. Anyway, if that doesn't make you feel better about the day you had, it must have been really, really bad!

I am SOOOOO sorry about your wallet! I know how you feel about the military ID thing. And maybe there is someone out there that is a good samaritan and sends you your wallet minus the cash (someone did mine COD!).

You have gotten through 2 deployments without Chris. You can make it one more. Remember if you need to talk, I am up till 3am your time just call my cell!

BIG hugs for you and the kids!

Thanks guys. I've pretty much gotten it taken care of. I pick up my new debit card this morning, and my drivers license should be here by tomorrow. If I don't get my wallet back this weekend, I'll go get a new Military ID on Monday and order new credit cards too. Everythings OK.

Sorry Suzanne! That sounds like a really sucky day :( I've thrown my credit card in a fast food trashcan before, but never lost an entire wallet. What a hassle on an already tough day!
