My 1st sewing experience

Jessica came over last night and showed me how to use my sewing machine. It was so exciting! LOL! I made a baby wipe to use with my cloth diapers. Here's my practice one out of scrap material.

And here's the final product. I'm so proud of myself! Now my goal is to tackle a simple pattern. I'll keep you updated!! :)

So... just one wipe?

Yeah, I got a pack of 12 for free when I got my last order of bumGenius diapers. They ran out of one of the colors I ordered, so I got free wipes! I don't know what I'll do with the rest of the material. Maybe make wipes and sell them :)

I had someone else tell me about using the cloth diapers and how easy she found it to be... but I really never heard of a reusable wipe... like... reusable toilet paper...

It's actually easier to use reusable wipes when using cloth diapers. Imagine throwing away poopy wipes in the trash all by themselves. This way you just throw them in the diaper pail with your diapers and they get washed with the diapers.

I wish I could come see in person what these cloth diapers are all about... I don't want to venture out on this by myself.

I used to say "ewwww" to cloth diapering and now I'm totally addicted! Except I don't have a kid yet, lol. I even got my pregnant friend addicted. They're a lot better than the cloth diapers of the past! And I swear changing Kathrine's nasty poopy diaper was a lot easier with the cloth wipe than disposable wipes! The hardest part about the cloth diapers, is not spending too much money on them! You can cloth diaper for really cheap, or there are people online who have diaper stashes that cost 10k

Hmm... a 10k stash of diapers... sounds more like they should have just spent the money on disposables... I know the cloth ones are better for the environment, and really (if you don't go crazy) it is cheaper in the long run... I've still got some thinking and researching to do about it before I totally decide... I'm interested though.

The ones who do it for thousands of dollars don't do it for the ease (like disposables) but because of how cute some are. Like designer diapers, lol. My friend is doing mostly prefolds with cute covers. She dyed her prefolds then I sewed on some fabric on the center panel for her, they're REALLY cute! If you're out and about it needs a cover but if you're at home a lot of people go without a cover because you can see it getting wet before it drips or anything. Diaperswappers.com is a very useful site to get a lot of information.
