Pot Holders

I attemped to make pot holders for my mom. She gave me the materials when she gave me the sewing machine. Here are 2 of the 3 that I've attempted. The one on the right looks better. I can't figure out how to get the loop sewn on. It's too thick for the sewing machine. I attemped to hand sew one on, and that didn't work out so well either. I'll have to think about it and see if I can come up with a solution.

The one on the left has the washcloth the same size as the outer material. The one on the right, I cut the washcloth smaller and sewed it to the inside of the back material. Then I sewed the front and back together without having to sew through the washcloth. That helped. I'm now thinking that I should sew the washcloth to a 3rd piece of material, then sew the 3 pieces together. That will make the back side look better. If anyone has any ideas, let me know!
